Govt ITI Puri was inaugurated by, the then Industries Minister for state Honl. Bibhunedra Mishra on 19 th December 1966.

Initially ITI, Puri was started with 5 trades such as Electrician, Fitter, Turner, Machinist, Welder & other trades like Draughtsman Civil, Radio & Television, Motor Mechanic vehicle, Plastic Processes operator, Electronics Mechanic, Wireman & Stenography were added in course of time. Due to unpopularity of trades like Draftsman(Civil) & Radio & TV, Stenography there was no admission in those trades & those trades are closed.

At present 9 Engineering trades such as Electrician, Fitter, Turner, Machinist, Wireman, Electronic Mechanics, Plastic Processing Operator, Welder are available. The number of units of all the trade was 16 upto 2014 & 14 more units of different trades were added during August 2015 having a total of 30 units.

The passed out trainees of this institute are placed in different sectors like Indian Railway, OPTCL, CESU & in various Govt. & Private establishments. Some trainees have got employment abroad also.

Puri I.T.I. provides various facilities like Automated library, Smart class room, Communication lab, I.T.lab, and well equipped laboratory and workshop . Hostel facilities provided to male trainees having capacity 100 .

In addition to the Central Placement Cell these in a local placement cell where placement is provided to the trainees .

Various activities like EDP training, Sports, World youth Skill Day, Boxing camp, Cultural competitions are carried out for improvement of the trainees standard.

During the last 2 years 3 trades have been renovated other trades are under renovation, large number of old machinery were repaired, number of machinery were procured & installed, hostel was renovated ,internal road & Security shed was constructed, unsafe Principal & staff quarters were demolished & reconstructed. Auction of old & obsolete machinery were done in one phase & steps taken for auction of existing obsolete machinery.
